Haworthia maxima is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet maxima comes from Latin , means 'the largest' and refers to the size of the plants.
description
Haworthia maxima grows without a trunk and sprouts slowly. The narrowed, spreading, lanceolate-triangular leaves form a rosette with a height of up to 25 centimeters. The brownish green to olive green leaf blade is 14 centimeters long and 2 centimeters wide. It is almost as thick as it is wide. The leaf surface is rough. There are raised rounded warts on it that do not flow together.
The loose inflorescence is sparsely branched and reaches a length of up to 60 centimeters. The flower tube is straight. The tepals are short and have brownish green veins.
Systematics and distribution
Haworthia maxima is widespread in the South African province of Western Cape .
The first description as Aloe margaritifera var. Maxima by Adrian Hardy Haworth was published 1804th Henri-Auguste Duval placed the species in the genus Haworthia in 1809 .
