Haworthia venosa is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodil family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia venosa usually grows without a trunk and sprouts slowly through offshoots or runners. The 12 to 20 spread to recurved, oval-triangular leaves form a rosette with a diameter of up to 5 centimeters and a height of up to 3 centimeters. The leaf blade is up to 10 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. The smooth upper side of the leaf is patterned like a net, the underside is usually slightly rough.

The sparsely branched, loose inflorescence reaches a length of up to 35 centimeters and consists of 15 to 20 flowers . The upside-down flower tube is curved and the inner tepals are rolled back.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia venosa is common in Namibia and the South African provinces of Limpopo , Western Cape and Eastern Cape .

It was first described as Aloe venosa in 1783 by Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck . Adrian Hardy Haworth placed the species in the genus Haworthia in 1821 .
