Hawraman
Hawraman ( Kurdish ههورامانor Hewraman , Persian اورامان, Ōrāmān or Owrāmān ) is a region in Kurdistan .
The region in the Iraqi - Iranian border area consists of the mountainous country between the triangle Halabja - Marivan - Paveh . It extends 50 km from Marivan in a south-easterly direction and is home to several mountains over 2000 meters. The highest peak is the Kūh-e Taḵt at 2,985 meters.
The valleys of Hawraman are mainly inhabited by the Goran and Jaf Kurds. The common languages are Hawrami, a dialect of Gorani , and Sorani . Hawraman is considered the center of the Gorani culture and the intersection of heterodox and orthodox Islam in Kurdistan. Both the Naqshbandi -Tariqa and the Islam as heretical applicable yarsanism are deeply rooted in Hawraman.
