Health tv is a German private television broadcaster based in Königstein im Taunus and owned by the hospital group Asklepios . The thematic channel is dedicated exclusively to the topic of health. After two previous stations, Deutsches Gesundheitsfernsehen (DGF) and the pay-TV channel Focus Gesundheit , which were economically at an end after two and five years respectively, Health TV is trying to serve the aging society and here already the 40-plus age group.
history
The program started in 2017 with a 15-strong editorial team in Hamburg , Cologne and Mainz / Wiesbaden . The station started with an initially limited program of self-produced programs. The broadcaster stated that its goal was to become “Europe's largest and most respected moving image health portal for generally understandable health and medical information”.

According to the broadcaster, the aim of the program is to provide generally understandable and independent information about health, well-being and medicine. It is roughly divided into three program blocks depending on the time of day. In the mornings, 10 to 20-minute series of exercises are broadcast to participate in, which are designed in the form of aerobics videos from the 1980s. In the afternoon, current health information is broadcast, lifestyle-related programs and organizations, initiatives and associations from the health sector are presented. In the evenings, reports and background information are broadcast, book presentations as well as talk and cooking programs with a health focus.
A significant part of the program is done through repetitions in a continuous loop.

Around 90 percent of households can reach the station via the distribution channels satellite (Astra 19.2, Transponder 113, frequency 12.633 H), cable TV ( Unitymedia and Vodafone ) and IPTV (including Freenet TV connect ). A live stream in seven different resolutions (64 to 2999 kbit / s ) is also available on the provider's website. Via satellite, the station is the successor to the long-term advertising television Collection, which had previously ceased operations.
The program is supplemented by a media library on the Internet.
