Heatstroke is a 2013 American action film directed by Evelyn Purcell, basedon Hannah Nyala West's second novel, Leave No Trace .

After Josie, a teenager, is caught with drugs, she is told to spend some time with her father, who studies hyenas in the African wilderness. When her father tries to bring her back to her mother, the father is killed by poachers. Together with Tally, her father's friend, she has to escape the poachers and get to safety through the desert. Tally manages to defeat the poachers and bring Josie, weakened by the sting of a scorpion , to a hospital, where she is picked up by her mother.
