Hebden is a village in the Craven District in North Yorkshire in England .
Hebden is one of four localities in the parish of Linton . Hebden is near Grimwith Reservoir and Grassington, in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. In 2011 Hebden had 246 inhabitants. Hebden's Church is St. Peter's Church. Hebden has a hotel , a pub , a tea room, a community hall and is approached by buses. There was a primary school until 1983 .
Hebden is at a crossroads. The east-west road B6265 connects it with Grassington, 2.7 km away, in the west and from there with the Minor town of Skipton, 18.5 km away, in the south . To the east, the road crosses a bridge over Hebden Gill, built in 1827, and from there crosses the watershed to Pateley Bridge in Nidderdale, 8 miles away. Main Street, the main street of the village, runs south as Mill Lane towards the banks of the River Wharfe and the villages of Hartlington and Burnsall. The road north leads to the small hamlet of Hole Bottom, from where it continues as a path to Grassington Moor.
The layout of the village is largely from the time of the manorial rule , but in the 19th century the village developed into a major industrial site with mining and a textile factory. Since then it has developed back into a rural community and is a meeting point for hikers and cyclists who want to enjoy the rural surroundings.
On March 7, 1975, a bus accident occurred near the place due to brake failure with 32 dead.
