The Hedströmmen is a river and river system in Dalarna County and Västmanland County in Sweden . The source is located in a small lake system in the south of Dalarna County. Lumsån and Baggån form the upper reaches . The river flows mainly in a southerly direction.

The lakes Malingsbosjön, Storsjön and Nedre Vättern are flown through. Skinnskatteberg , Uttersberg and Kolsva are located on the river . South of Köping the Hedströmmen flows into the western end of the Mälaren .

The total length of the river system is 128 km. The catchment area covers 1060 km². The mean discharge at the mouth is 10 m³ / s.

The Hedströmmen is popular with canoeists and anglers . The endangered species of asp is found in the river .
