Hedwig Salomon
Hedwig Salomon (born May 17, 1900 in Frankfurt am Main ; died August 20, 1942 in Auschwitz concentration camp ) was a German musician , pianist and répétiteur .
Life
Hedwig "Hede" Salomon came from a Jewish family and worked as a music teacher for accompaniment and improvisation of rhythmic gymnastics at the Hoch Conservatory. In the 1931/32 season she was on the musical staff of the New Theater and was employed as the musical arranger of the comedy "Isn't that nice from Colette?" By Max Bertuch , as well as the musical direction of " Taming a Shrew ", based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew .
As a result of the seizure of power by the National Socialists, Hedwig Salomon was released on August 31, 1933 with effect from the following day from the conservatory where she last worked. Towards the end of the same year she went into exile in France. Nothing is currently known about her artistic activities there. During the Second World War she was interned and delivered to Germany from the Gurs assembly camp . The Jewish music teacher was finally deported to the Auschwitz extermination and concentration camp, where she died on August 20, 1942 under unknown circumstances.
