Location of Heeke in Lower Saxony

Heeke is a part of the municipality of Alfhausen in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony . The formerly independent community was incorporated into the new Alfhausen community in 1971.

The Alfhausen district of Heeke is located east of the center of Alfhausen. The reserve basin is located south of the district, followed by the Alfsee .

Waters

In the eastern part of the district, the hare initially flows as the high and low hare, which reunites there after the separation in Sögeln . The arrester coming from the Alfsee also flows into the Hase in Heeke.

The Heeker Mühlenbach flows through Heeke to flow into the downflow of the Alfsee.

Heeker syringe house

Until the end of the 1960s, Heeke had its own fire brigade, which was still equipped with a manual pressure syringe . Her last assignment was on July 1, 1968 when the Heiker Hof was on fire. The syringe house, renovated in 1983, is located in the Heeker village not far from the Heeker Klause.

school

A first school was opened in Heeke in 1820. The first building was a simple thatched-roof building that received a bell in 1863. The much too small building was replaced by a new, larger one in 1876, but partially burned down on January 16, 1914. It was rebuilt shortly afterwards through an expansion.

The end of school was sealed in 1969 when grades 1–4 were sent to the primary school in Alfhausen. Years 5–9 were taught at the new school in Alfhausen from 1965 onwards even before the school closed.

The existing school building is now used as a residential building.

End of war

After fighting the day before in Alfhausen, Heeke was occupied by British troops on April 11, 1945 without a fight.

Incorporation

On February 1, 1971, the previously independent municipality was merged with the municipalities of Alfhausen, Thiene and Wallen to form the new community of Alfhausen.

The last mayor of the community of Heeke Georg Schmidt became the first mayor of the new community of Alfhausen in 1971.

In the eastern edge of the district runs the federal road 68, which forms a connecting axis between Osnabrück and Oldenburg . The Oldenburg – Osnabrück railway is also in the eastern edge of the district . The next train station in Alfhausen was located here until it was closed in 2000, but it is to go back into operation in the next few years as part of the reactivation measures.

The Hesepe-Delmenhorst railway line runs further west in the area of ​​the municipality of Rieste. Passenger trains run from Osnabrück to Bremen.
