The Hegerberg is 655 m above sea level. A. high summit in the Vienna Woods in the municipal areas of Stössing and Kasten near Böheimkirchen .
Hiking trails lead from Stössing , Fahrafeld and Kasten near Böheimkirchen to the Johann-Enzinger-Schutzhaus (also Hegerberghütte ) on the summit. From Michelbach and Hendelgraben near Stössing, the Hegerberg can be reached by car via an asphalt road.
Before the First World War, there was a lookout point at the summit. The refuge has existed since 1930, burned down in December 1978 and was rebuilt from 1979. On the summit meadow there is a drag lift ( 530 m - 650 m ), which makes the Hegerberg one of the few ski areas in the Vienna Woods. However, this is now out of service.
The non-profit tourist association Hegerberg currently has around 400 members, making it one of the largest associations in the region.
