Heidi Preuss Grew

Heidi Preuss Grew (* 1970 near Chicago , Illinois ) is an American ceramic artist and professor.

Career

Preuss Grew began her studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in German language and literature (1994), art history (1994) and arts and crafts (1995). During this time she studied for a year at the Philipps University in Marburg (1991–1992). After completing her postgraduate studies at Ohio University in Athens (Ohio) , which she completed in 1997 with a Master of Fine Arts, she taught at Ohio University (1995–1997), at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines in Illinois ( 1998 to May 1999) and at the Art Institute of Chicago (January to May 1999). Since 1999 she has taught as an Associate Professor at Willamette University in Salem , Oregon .

In her ceramics and drawings, the focus is on the portrait . She has been known for group and solo exhibitions in the USA since 2002 and has received scholarships in the Czech Republic , Poland , Denmark and Germany . In 2008 she took part in the 8th International Ceramic Symposium in Römhild. Outside the USA, her works are also represented in collections and museums in Japan, the Czech Republic and Poland.
