Heiko Niere (born January 17, 1966 in Nordhorn ) is a former German ice hockey player who played in the second highest German league for the Heilbronner EC and the GEC Nordhorn . He is currently a junior coach at REV Bremerhaven .

Player career

The 1.74 m tall striker was initially on the ice at the Heilbronn EC in the ice hockey league and finally rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1987 with the team . In six years, only interrupted by a one-year commitment at EHC Klostersee in 1989/90 , Niere completed a total of 257 league appearances for the Unterländer and is still fourth in the club's record player list. He is also represented in the top 5 of the most successful goal scorers at the HEC. In 1995 , the attacker switched to the third-class “2. Liga ”for the Adendorfer EC , whose jersey he wore for the next two years.

In 1997 Heiko Niere signed a contract with the second division GEC Nordhorn . Even after the bankruptcy of the professional team in the 1999/00 season and the resulting demotion to the amateur field, the offensive player was part of the squad of the newly founded EC Euregio Nordhorn and initially ended his career in 2001 in the regional league . In the 2004/05 season , however, he returned again to the Nordhorn squad. He also played a number of games as a player-coach for the Nordhorn ice hockey club in the 2015/16 season.

As coach of the Nordhorner, he won the title in the Lower Saxony state league in 2016. In the 2016/2017 season, Heiko Niere was able to celebrate the championship title in the Association League North. He has been a junior trainer at REV Bremerhaven since 2019.
