The baroque Holy Spirit Church in Fulda was built between 1729 and 1733 as a hospital church on the site of its Gothic predecessor from the 13th century. The high altar is the 3rd person of the Holy Trinity, the right side altar of the church patroness Margaret (of Pisidia) and the left side altar to St. Dedicated to Joseph. The church was intended as a meeting place for the 32 poor who lived in the adjoining hospital. The first priest in the hospital was Johann Adam Henckel. In 1803 the magistrate of the city of Fulda assigns the Holy Spirit Church as the meeting place to the Marian male and young male modality , which holds its last meeting on Passion Sunday 1803 in the University Church of the Assumption , hence the old name Sodality Church . Michael Henkel worked here as the organist of the sodality until 1851. In 1835 the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul took over the hospital and the sacristy service. On January 1, 1906, it became the church of the (territorial) parish of Heilig Geist Fulda, before becoming a branch church of the inner-city parish of St. Simplicius, Faustinus and Beatrix in 2015 .

history

Originally there was a Gothic hospital building at today's church location, which, according to a letter of indulgence from 1290, was in the construction phase. The Gothic hospital chapel was consecrated in 1331, but it had to give way to the new baroque building in 1728. A few years later, the Fulda court architect Andreas Gallasini was able to implement his plans for a new building. Prince Abbot Adolf von Dalberg was able to consecrate the new hospital church in 1733 . With the re-establishment of the hospital with the Church of the Holy Spirit , Dalberg's social work in Fulda is documented.

The organ was built in 1898 by the organ building company Sauer (Frankfurt / Oder). The pneumatic cone- chop instrument, completely preserved since then, has 16 stops on two manuals and a pedal .
