Heiligenborn (Kirchheim)

Heiligenborn is a deserted area in the district of Frielingen , municipality of Kirchheim in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in northern Hesse .

location

The settlement was at 341  m above sea level. NHN Höhe in the upper Kisselbachtal , about 2 km north of Frielingen, immediately south, downstream, the confluence of a small stream coming from the east into the Kisselbach. A later ironworks was located about 100 m north-north-west . On the long and narrow meadow there, bordered by forest on both sides, the “Heiligenborn” corridor , east of the farm road, there are no more traces of the village, with the exception of occasional shards.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1340 as "Helkenborn". It is not known when it was abandoned, also known as "Heiligenburn" in the 14th century. The place was owned by the Hersfeld Abbey as a feudal lord and in 1648 came to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Kassel .
