The Heimatverein Bonn-Oberkassel eV deals with the development of the Bonn district of Oberkassel . He is editor of the publication series of the Heimatverein Bonn-Oberkassel eV

history

The home association Bonn-Oberkassel was founded on June 6, 1975 with 51 founding members. The founders saw the new organization in the tradition of the former Oberkassel Transport and Improvement Association . Willi Hey was appointed first chairman. The association administers the estate of nine defunct Oberkassel associations and societies. In addition, the chronicles and awards of 13 still existing clubs are looked after. In addition, the association has a collection of illustrations, writings and found objects relating to the history of Oberkassel. The collection includes paintings, including a work by the painter Konrad Lessing (1852–1916). An extensive photo archive is kept in digitized form. The series of publications of the Heimatverein Bonn-Oberkassel eV has been published since 1976 .

The seat of the association is the old town hall in Oberkassel. Sebastian Freistedt has been the chairman of the association since 2013.

Projects (selection)

  • Participation in the restoration of the Steiner Häuschen castle complex , which was completed in 1985 with the installation of a display board and the inscription of the ruins.
  • Research and publications on the Oberkassel Stone Age people , and in 1989 a memorial with a display board was set up at the site in the Stingenberg nature reserve
  • Research on the life and work of the theologian and poet Gottfried Kinkel, who was born in Oberkassel, and his wife, the writer Johanna Kinkel
  • Participation in the planning for the further use of the former factory premises of Hermann Bleibtreu's Bonn cement factory with the “Cement Factory Working Group”
