When Steiner house is the Restbau a medieval castle in Upper Kassel , a district of Bonn city district Beuel . The beginnings of the facility go back to the 10th century. The Counts of Molbach ( Maubach ) were the owners at the end of the 12th century. Before 1210, Countess Alveradis von Molbach donated the “ Haistilberg ” property to the Cistercian Abbey of Heisterbach . According to a report by Caesarius von Heisterbach , the tower of the complex was destroyed by lightning strikes around 1217 and was never rebuilt.

During the new construction of Bundesstrasse 42 in the mid-1980s, the remains of a large residential tower with a floor plan of 20 by 11 meters and a bailey were found. These were restored by the city of Bonn between 1985 and 1986 . The Steiner House is a "permanent ground monument " under monument protection .
