Tower House (Friesdorf)
The tower house (rarely also: Castle Friesendorf and Turmhof ) is a Muthaus in Bonn district Friesdorf on the corner of Anna Berger Street and the Bachele. It is one of the oldest houses preserved in the Rhineland and stands as a monument under monument protection .
history
The tower house was built in the 12th or 13th century by the von Friesdorf family and was laid out as a knightly estate. It later came into the possession of the St. Michael Abbey in Siegburg , which gave it as a fief, including those of Belderbusch and von Schall . In 1830 the property was bequeathed to the Baroness von Boeselager . During the Second World War , the house was badly damaged in a bombing raid on December 21, 1944. During the reconstruction, the shape of the roof was changed from a hipped roof to a tent roof.
architecture
The Romanesque building has a basalt foundation and base . The walls are made of trachyte rubble, from which the wall surrounding the garden was made. The house has an almost square floor plan. On the ground floor there are only two rooms and a staircase that leads to the two upper floors. The windows are rectangular at the bottom and arched windows with shutters at the top.
