Immenburg Park with a memorial plaque

The Immenburg was a castle or palace-like property from the 19th century in Bonn - Endenich , of which only remnants of the park still exist today.

history

The Immenburg was built in 1879 in the historicist style by Major Ferdinand Flinsch. The building complex was in the middle of a spacious park. In 1912 the physicist Alfred Bucherer became the new owner. The building was largely destroyed in World War II and then demolished.

After the war there was an allotment garden colony on the castle grounds until 1965 . Since then, part of the site has been used by the University of Bonn , in 1963 a student dormitory was built on part of the site , in 1965 the Parasitological Institute moved into a building planned by Rudolf Lehmenick on the Immenburg and the pharmacy was also given a building here.

Current condition

Only parts of the park are left of the Immenburg. The streets “Immenburgstraße” and “An der Immenburg”, where the university institutes are located, and a bus stop are reminiscent of the name. At the corner of An der Immenburg and Auf dem Hügel there is a stone slab with the name of the property.

Trivia

The Laufhaus located on Immenburgstrasse is colloquially called Immenburg .
