Heinz-Herbert Kreh

Heinz-Herbert Kreh (born February 14, 1937 in Kitzingen ; † June 19, 2009 in Haßfurt ) was a German football player . The half-striker of 1. FC Haßfurt played 19 international matches in the German national soccer team of amateurs from 1962 to 1966 . In addition to his footballing career, Kreh was director of studies at the Regiomontanus Gymnasium in Haßfurt , where he taught Latin, Greek and sports.

Kreh also won the top scorer's crown in the Bayern League in 1965 (38 goals) and 1966 (30 goals) and played a good role with Haßfurt.

Amateur national team, 1962 to 1966

The four-time student national player made his debut on April 7, 1962 at the international match in Hanover against Italy in the DFB amateur national team. The German amateur selection won 2-1 goals and the Haßfurter excelled as a goalscorer. He formed the right wing with Lothar Ulsaß from SV Arminia Hannover . In May 1963 he took part in the England tournament and DFB coach Helmut Schön used the dangerous half-striker in the games against Holland, England, France and Scotland. In September 1963 he was a member of the DFB squad for the German-German qualifying games against the GDR in Karl-Marx-Stadt and Hanover. In October 1963, Kreh was a member of the DFB travel company for the “Pre-Olympic Tournament” in Tokyo and came to two more international appearances. In May 1964 he was active in the victorious DFB team that won an international tournament in Italy. When Kreh came on October 27, 1965 in Wiesbaden against Finland for the 14th international match, he led the team for the first time as captain. In the newly staged UEFA Amateur Cup , he played two games against Turkey in 1966 and ended his career in the amateur national team of the DFB with his 19th international game on December 7, 1966 in Koblenz against Yugoslavia.

Functionary career

In the South German Football Association , he was the youth chairman, was responsible for youth and school football at the DFB, was a member of the FIFA committee for youth competitions and vice-president of the UEFA youth committee. The retired director of studies was dubbed the "Foreign Minister of German youth football".

Honor

At the DFB Bundestag 2007 on October 26th, Heinz-Herbert Kreh was awarded the DFB's Golden Badge of Honor for "longstanding services to German football".
