Hein Altenbroxter (born May 21, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German drummer , producer and music author.

life and career

Born and raised in Stade and Hamburg, Altenbroxter began playing drums at the age of twelve. From 1980 to 1984 he was trained by Professor Udo Dahmen in Hamburg. Altenbroxter is best known for his collaboration as a session and touring drummer with Hannes Bauer (Udo Lindenberg), Matthias Reim, James Hopkins Harrison (Lake), Andreas Becker (Peter Maffay Band), the hard rock formation "Lone Age" and especially that of Peter Maffay produced the band "Dornröschen" with the singer Tina Hahne.

Between 1986 and 1988 and 1993 he played with Hannes Bauer. In the summer of 1989, shortly before the fall of the Wall, he played a tour with Bernward Büker in the former GDR. In 1994 he recorded the CD "Rock History Drum Loops" , produced by Arthur Koll, Black Box Music. In 1997 he was hired by Matthias Reim as session drummer for the album "Reim 3" and fled to Miami USA to co-produce and drum the album there. During and after an intensive touring program between 1994 and 1998 with Reim and others, he wrote the successful musical “Yesterday” with the singer HANS ENGELS . Between 1997 and 2004, Hein started various productions of “YESTERDAY”. Singers, musicians and actors such as Mike Kilian , Taco, Susi Frese, Geff Harrison, Dave Ashby, Rainer Grünebaum and the Comidian Ole Lehmann are involved in various productions of the play on large and small stages. Stations were z. B. the Metropol Theater (now Admiralty Palace ) in Berlin or the Delphi Showpalast in Hamburg. Hein Altenbroxter is at home in many musical genres and is known for its "earthy" and Always seen virtuoso drumming in the rock and pop scene. In his career he worked with James Hopkins Harrison, Lake, Frank Peterson (Gregorian, Sarah Brightman), Chris Laut & Ohrfeindt, Mike Killian (Rockhaus & Starfucker), Udo Lindenberg, Peter Maffay, Matthias Reim, Tina & Sleeping Beauty, Taco , Gunnar Heyse, Hannes Bauer, Rolf Köhler, Yorck, Andreas Becker, Volker (Eddi) Duddeck, Arthur Koll, Lone Age, Susi Frese, Hans Engels & Park Lane, Bernward Bücker, Lonzo Westphal, Geff Harrison, Neil Landon and Axel Hahne together. Hein plays Premier Signia drums and Paiste cymbals, pedals from TAMA, as well as Roland and Yamaha e-drums and keyboards.

During his artistic work on the drums, Altenbroxter also appeared as a drum teacher for various music schools in and around Hamburg. Today he teaches at his own private music school in Hamburg.

Current

In 2012 the Hamburg band LAKE around the guitarist ALEX CONTI released the song NIGHTBIRDS, with the original voice of the former LAKE singer JIM HOPKINS. The song was originally written by founding member JIM HOPKINS, ANDREAS BECKER (Peter Maffay, Fee) and others. by HEIN ALTENBROXTER in 1990 for a planned comeback by LAKE in ANDREAS BECKER's studio in Braunschweig. In June 2013 Hein plays with CHRIS LAUT in his band OHRENFEINDT Open Air Festivals. HEIN ALTENBROXTER (drums and vocals) has been a permanent member of the Hamburg formation YORCK since 2011. Lead singer & guitar: YORCK MÄNNICH, bass & vocals: DIETER HORNS (LUCIFER'S FRIEND). The band YORCK has so far released two albums with a different line-up: In 2002 the album "Yorck" was released and 3 years later "times of trouble" was released.
