Heino Lambeck

Heino Lambeck (* 1586 in Hamburg ; † May 4, 1661 ibid) was a German math and writing teacher , mathematician and educator .

Life and works

Heino Lambeck worked from 1610 to 1661 at the church school of St. Jacobikirche in Hamburg. Here he gave writing and arithmetic lessons. During this time he wrote numerous textbooks that could be used in writing and reading classes. The highly esteemed educator also wrote books on mathematics. Some of these were published until the 18th century. In 1633 he wrote the Düedsche Orthographia . The work is considered one of two well-known Low German textbooks for reading and writing lessons. In 1657 the work was published in a High German version with the title Teutsches Nahmens-Buch . This book was reprinted in 1657 and 1799.

Heino Lambeck may have suggested setting up the Art Accounting Loving Society . The society founded in 1690 is known today as the Mathematical Society in Hamburg .

family

Heino Lambeck married Margarete Holste, who was a sister of Lukas Holste . The couple had four children: Peter later worked as court librarian in Vienna , Johannes / Hannes, Lukas (1635–1661) and Marie. Heino Lambeck documented his own family life and the correspondence with Lukas Holste for over three decades. The partly very personal documents in Low German can be found in Holsten's estate. This is kept in the Vatican Library in Rome .
