Heinold Steger
Heinold Steger (born January 24, 1928 in St. Lorenzen ; † April 7, 1991 ) was a South Tyrolean functionary, politician and ombudsman .
In 1961, Steger took over the management of the South Tyrolean Farmers' Union as director . In 1964 he was elected to the state parliament on the list of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) and thus also to the regional council, of which he was a member until his resignation in 1972. From 1964 to 1972 the sponsor Luis Durnwalders was a member of the South Tyrolean provincial government as regional councilor for agriculture in the Magnago II and Magnago III cabinets . He then worked as General Director in the Assessorate for Agriculture and from 1974 to 1985 as President of the Bolzano Exhibition Center . In 1985, at the suggestion of the state parliament, he took over the office of the first South Tyrolean ombudsman . From 1989 until his death in 1991 he was also the President of the European Ombudsman Institute (EOI).
