Villa Heinrich-Brüning-Strasse 16 (2013)

The house Heinrich Brüning-Straße 16 is a villa in Bonn district of Gronau , which was built in 1909 and now serves as an office building. It forms the right end of the three-part villa group Heinrich-Brüning-Straße 16-20, which is located in the center of the federal district . The villa stands as a monument under monument protection .

history

The villa was built as part of a group of villas, which, like some buildings in what was then the "Villa Colony Gronau" on the southern outskirts of Bonn, was designed by the Bonn architect and government master builder Julius Rolff (1868–1946) for the client Alfred Keller from Siegburg . The villa group suffered severe damage during the Second World War , which was then restored in 1949.

After Bonn had become the seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949 , the villa was located in the middle of the new parliament and government district . Since the completion of the press house at the end of Heinrich-Brüning-Strasse in the newly built Tulpenfeld office complex in 1968, it has been in the immediate vicinity of the center of the German capital's press . Therefore, the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) acquired the villa and set up its Bonn studio in it, which recently (as of 1999) also housed Deutschlandfunk , Saarländischer Rundfunk , Hessischer Rundfunk and Radio Bremen .

After the relocation of the parliament and government seat in 1999 and the associated move of the capital city media to Berlin , SWR left a studio at its previous location in Bonn for the time being. It was closed around 2005. Today, after a comprehensive renovation with an office area of 1100 m², the house, like the entire villa group, is owned by the Bonn entrepreneur Marc Asbeck , who owns numerous properties in the center of the federal quarter and whose property management is based in the villa. It is also rented to Bankhaus Lampe .
