The choir community of the Heinrich Schütz Ensemble, founded in 1993, consists of trained musicians and amateur singers who deal with the great oratorios and highlights of a cappella literature as well as commissioned works by contemporary composers.

The internal network of the Heinrich Schütz Ensemble currently consists of around 45 singers who, as members of the association, provide the necessary core and regional anchoring. In addition, around 200 other singers from a wide area belong to the extended circle of the choir community, who join individual projects depending on the vocal line-up.

The musical work of the ensemble has already been honored several times with prizes and awards, including the cultural promotion award of the district of Passau and the award of the European Concert Hall Foundation, which went to choir director Martin Steidler in 2005. The ensemble also achieved top marks in international competitions, such as in 2007 at the 44th International Choir Competition Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia (1st prize in the "Art Song" category / 3rd prize in the "Folk song" category), and was awarded in October 2008 for its artistic work awarded the E.ON Bavaria Culture Prize.
