Martin Steidler (* 1966 ) is a German musician and choir director .

Live and act

After studying piano and choral conducting at the universities of Vienna and Regensburg , he worked as a music teacher at the Auersperg-Gymnasium Passau Freudenhain in Passau from 1996 to 2007 and built up a choir scene at the school. In addition, Martin Steidler was involved in regional choral work in the East Bavarian region. In 1993 he founded the Heinrich Schütz Ensemble Vornbach . The musical work of the ensemble has been honored several times with prizes and awards, including the Bavarian Culture Prize of EON Bayern AG in 2008 as well as the Culture Prize of the District of Passau and the Prize of the European Concert Hall Foundation, which went to Martin Steidler in 2005. In 2013 the Heinrich Schütz Ensemble won the Bavarian Choir Competition in the mixed chamber choir category (16 to 36 participants). The ensemble also achieved top marks in international competitions, most recently in 2007 at the Spittal an der Drau International Choir Competition (Carinthia), where it was awarded first prize in the art song category and third prize in the folk song category. Concert tours have taken Steidler with the Heinrich Schütz Ensemble to Austria , the Czech Republic , Italy , Portugal , the Baltic States , Finland and Russia .

In 1995 he built up the three-country choir (D / Austria / CZ) and from 2002 to 2008 he directed the choir of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Passau. As artistic director of the “Passau Concert Winter”, he brought the vocal music series voc: vocal into being.

From 2007 to 2008, Martin Steidler worked closely with Gustav Kuhn as the choir director of the Tyrolean Festival Erl , where he worked on an extensive choral symphonic repertoire with professional singers from 15 nations. In addition, guest conductors as well as his lecturing and judging activities have taken him to many other European countries and most recently to Cuba , where he rehearsed Handel'sMessiah ” with “Exaudi” .

Steidler has been the artistic director of the Audi Youth Choir Academy in Ingolstadt since 2008 . The choir, which works in several project phases per year, supports the young singers in intensive individual voice training and cooperates with conductors such as Kent Nagano and Ariel Zuckermann .

From 2006 to 2008 Steidler was a lecturer for choral conducting at the University of Catholic Church Music and Music Education in Regensburg , before he was appointed professor of choral conducting at the University of Music and Theater in Munich in October 2008 . His duties there include training the students to be a choirmaster for the grammar school teaching post and leading the madrigal choir , with which he won first prize in the 2014 German Choir Competition . International concert tours, e.g. B. 2010 to Argentina or the USA and encounter concerts with other ambitious ensembles complement the extensive concert activity, which includes around ten concerts a year.
