Heinrich (Nassau-Dillenburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich von Nassau-Dillenburg (born August 28, 1641 in Dillenburg , † April 18, 1701 at Ludwigsbrunn Palace near Donsbach ) was Prince of Nassau-Dillenburg . He was the son of Georg Ludwig von Nassau-Dillenburg (1618-1656) and his wife Anna Auguste von Braunschweig (* May 19, 1612; † February 27, 1673), daughter of Duke Heinrich Julius of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

Life

He studied at the high school in Herborn , which enjoyed a particular boom under his government, and in France. He was then a general in the Dutch service.

Since his father had died before his grandfather Ludwig Heinrich von Nassau-Dillenburg , he inherited the rule of Dillenburg from his grandfather in 1662 and, after the death of his uncle Adolf (1629–1676), also the title. His rule is considered unspectacular but competent. He tried unsuccessfully for the inheritance of his father-in-law Georg von Brieg-Liegnitz .

His sons Wilhelm and later Christian follow in the government .
