Heinrich Abegg (politician)

Heinrich Abegg (born July 12, 1904 in Seebach ; † September 20, 1984 in Zurich , entitled to residency in Zurich) was a Swiss politician (SP) .

Life

Heinrich Abegg, member of the Reformed Church , was born in Seebach on July 12, 1904, the son of the farmer August Abegg and Elisabeth, née Hauser. Abegg, a typesetter - graduated and machine translators teaching then, worked as a translator in the Basel popular printers.

Heinrich Abegg, who married Maria, née Leutwyler, from Wallisellen in 1927 , died on September 20, 1984 at the age of 80 in Zurich.

Political activities

Since the general strike in 1918 Abegg has been active in the Typographia union and in the SP, of which he temporarily served as cantonal president. In 1937 Abegg was a member of the Allschwil municipal council . He was then represented from 1937 to 1946 in the Basel district administrator . Most recently he was a member of the government council from 1946 to 1963 , where he was director of construction until 1959, and then director of the interior. As building director, Abegg had a lot of catching up to do in the canton , including planning the expansion of the hospitals. In 1947 he fought for the introduction of the AHV . In addition, between 1940 and 1945 he campaigned for refugees from Alsace who had fled the Germans to Switzerland.
