Heinrich Assel

Heinrich Assel (* 1961 in Burgbernheim ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

He studied theology and philosophy in Erlangen and Heidelberg from 1980 to 1987 as a scholarship holder of the Bavarian State (1980–1986) . From 1988 to 1990 he completed the vicariate in Herzogenaurach . From 1990 to 1996 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Systematic Theology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen . After ordination in 1991 as pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and his doctorate in June 1993 as Dr. theol. ("summa cum laude") in Erlangen he was a research assistant at the Ecumenical Institute of the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Bonn from 1996 to 1999 . In 1996/1997 he had a research stay at the Divinity School of Duke University . After his habilitation in 1999 in the subject of systematic theology at the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn , he taught from 1999 to 2006 as a C-4 professor for Protestant theology at the University of Koblenz-Landau , Koblenz campus . Since 2006 he has been teaching at the chair for systematic theology, theological faculty of the University of Greifswald , where he was chairman of the Senate commission “Self-regulation in science” from 2008 to 2012 and dean of the theological faculty from 2010 to 2012 .
