Heinrich Balthasar Roth

Heinrich Balthasar Roth also: Rothius (* December 4, 1639 in Gehren , † October 9, 1689 in Jena ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Heinrich Balthasar was the son of the Graflich Schwarzburg community council Laurentius Andreas Roth and his wife Susanna Margaretha Schulte († December 27, 1655 in Gehren). After laying the foundations of his education at the school in his hometown, he attended high school in Arnstadt . On November 20, 1657 he moved to the University of Jena to study law. In 1663 he received his doctorate in law under Georg Adam Struve . He then moved to Arnstadt, where he was councilor to Count Christian Günther von Schwarzburg. On May 5, 1676 he was appointed professor of law in Jena and was appointed assessor of the court court and Schöppenstuhl. In his capacity as a Jena university lecturer, he also took part in the organizational tasks of the Salana. He was dean of the law faculty several times and in the summer semester of 1680 rector of the alma mater .

Roth married on April 26, 1664 in Arnstadt with Regina Margaretha Heden (born June 15, 1646 in Arnstadt; † November 23, 1693 in Jena), the daughter of the Schwartzburg chancellor in Arnstadt Hieronymus Heden (us) (born November 6, 1593 in Arnstadt; † December 26, 1670 ibid.) and his second wife Beata Catharina Frick, who was married in 1642.
