Heinrich Binder (physician)
Heinrich Wilhelm Karl Maria Binder (born December 3, 1947 in Vienna ) is an Austrian neurologist .
Life
Heinrich Binder studied medicine at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1972, after which he completed training as a specialist in neurology and psychiatry until 1978. In 1982 he completed his habilitation, in 1988 he was awarded the professional title of "Extraordinary University Professor".
Binder helped set up the neurological department at the Vienna University Hospital . Since 1989 he has been the primary surgeon and medical director of the Neurological Hospital of the Vienna Maria-Theresien-Schlössel community . His main field of work is restorative neurology, and in 2000 he succeeded in implanting an electrode that stimulates the walking center into the spinal cord of a patient with paraplegia.
