Heinrich Braune
Heinrich Braune (born November 8, 1904 in Lüneburg , † November 14, 1990 in Hamburg ) was the first editor-in-chief of the Hamburger Morgenpost (Mopo).
Life
Braune joined the SPD in 1922 at the age of 18 under the impression of the Kapp Putsch . In 1924 he passed the teaching exam and then studied psychology , philosophy and economics . In the following year he became an editor at Hamburger Echo and headed the features section . In addition, he worked as a special correspondent for various papers abroad and as a foreign correspondent for the then still young radio. When the party newspaper was banned, Heinrich Braune lost his economic existence. Presumably, the previous employee took part in the Echo meeting.
The Nazis banned the journalist Braune from working in January 1933 . He was temporarily interned in the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp. They also temporarily banned him from staying in Hamburg.
Before the Second World War , Braune went into the film industry for a few years. He was drafted into military service, fought in the war against the Soviet Union and was taken prisoner of war by the Soviets. After the Second World War he tried his hand at scriptwriting and wrote the synopsis for the cultural film "Hamburg believes in its future".
In 1949 Braune became the first editor-in-chief of the Hamburger Morgenpost . This tabloid daily newspaper with a circulation of 6,000 copies was founded by the Hamburg SPD ; it first appeared on September 16, 1949 and was published by the traditional Hamburg SPD party newspaper Hamburger Echo . Braune was editor-in-chief until 1968. Until 1986 he was the editor of this newspaper.
The Hamburger Morgenpost had a sold circulation of 469,000 copies in the Braune era. Braune was involved in the SPD , for which he ran unsuccessfully in the 1957 federal election.
