Life

Heinrich Deiters, son of the bookseller and publisher of Catholic books Johann Heinrich Deiters (1805-1856) from Münster and Magdalena, née Borgmeier, attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1857 . There he was under the artistic influence of Andreas and Oswald Achenbach and Alexander Michelis . Initially, Deiters lived with his mother at Schadowstrasse 62. In the 1860s he married a Mrs. Preston, who ran the fashion store "Deiters-Preston" first at Schadowstrasse 17, later at Victoriastrasse 22, and his brother ran a book and art shop on Alleestrasse .

Deiters was chairman of the General German Art Cooperative , a member of the Düsseldorf Artists 'Association and the Malkasten artists' association . Numerous atmospheric landscape pictures come from him from Westphalia, but also some from Holland, Belgium, France and southern Germany, where several study trips took him.

His daughter was the writer Leonore Niessen-Deiters , his son the painter and draftsman Hans Deiters .
