Heinrich Friese (doctor)

Heinrich Friese (born October 29, 1630 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † March 5, 1690 ibid) was a German medic.

Life

The son of the Königsberg councilor and wine merchant Heinrich Friese (* February 4, 1599 - July 1, 1665) and his first wife Anna Koese († 1655) had started his first training in Königsberg. After initial philosophical studies in Königsberg, he had continued medical studies for ten years at universities in Holland, England, France and Italy. For example, he had been the syndic of the German nation in Padua and received his doctorate in medicine at the University of Strasbourg with the De Hydrope medical disputation in 1662.

In 1663 he became adjunct and in 1664 extraordinary professor at the medical faculty of the University of Königsberg . In addition, in 1672 he was given a position as a garrison doctor in Pillau . In 1679 he was electoral Brandenburg councilor and personal physician. In 1684 he was given the first full professorship in medicine in Königsberg. In his last capacity he also participated in the organizational tasks of the university and was rector of the alma mater in the winter semester of 1687/88 .

Friese had married Sophia, daughter of the professor of medicine Christoph Tinctorius and his second wife Regina, daughter of the Königsberg councilor Johann Schimmelpfennig. A son and a daughter survived the father.
