Heinrich Giesen
Heinrich Giesen (born September 10, 1910 in Barmen , † October 12, 1972 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant theologian.
Giesen was shaped by the Confessing Church . He was first a student pastor in Cologne and Aachen before he became general secretary of the German Evangelical Church Congress in 1950 . He had a major impact on ten church days. In 1961 he took over the management of the Berlin City Mission and the office of Commissioner for Mission in Berlin. He founded the minute devotions in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church . His devotional books ( be quiet for five minutes, etc.) appeared in large numbers and in various foreign languages.
He became known to a wide audience as a regular speaker for the ARD program Das Wort zum Sonntag . His son Traugott Giesen also became a pastor.
