Heinrich Hartung II.
Heinrich Hartung II (born August 23, 1816 in Koblenz ; † April 26, 1893 ibid) was a German portrait and genre painter from the Koblenz painter and artist dynasty Hartung. His father was the painter and cabinet maker Heinrich Hartung I , his brother the sculptor Johann Hartung , his son the painter Heinrich Hartung III. and his grandson the painter Heinrich Hartung IV.
It is not known where Heinrich Hartung was trained as a painter. Several of his works can be viewed in the Middle Rhine Museum in Koblenz. His friendly relationship with the painter Franz von Lenbach is known . He had an extensive correspondence with him and was portrayed three times by him. In 1849 Hartung married Catharina Caroline Hoffmann, a niece of Joseph Görres . His witty and humorous speeches were highly valued in the Koblenz casino society and in the Koblenz carnival. WJ Becker made a number of these speeches available to posterity in the Koblenzer Heimatblatt in 1926.
