Heinrich Hoops

Heinrich Hoops (born July 10, 1867 in Bremen- Rablinghausen; † October 29, 1946 in Bremen- Oberneuland ) was a German Reformed pastor .

biography

Hoops' father - Johann Jakob Hoops - had been a teacher in Bremen since 1858, and then headmaster in Rablinghausen from 1864 . Heinrich Hoops attended the community school there, and then the old grammar school in Bremen until 1887 .

He studied theology at the University of Marburg , University of Gießen , University of Halle and the University of Bonn . From 1891 to 1892 he was assistant preacher in Langenholzhausen near Lemgo . In 1893 he was given the dual pastoral position in Mittelbüren and Grambke . His Low German sermons in St. Ansgarii and in some of the surrounding communities were always well received . He was a member of several church bodies, and since 1920 the church committee of the Bremen Evangelical Church . He founded a funeral association and a winter aid organization.

He was retired in 1933, but still served as pastor in Seehausen from 1934 to 1936 . Then he retired to Oberneuland , where he lived until his death.

Hoops has lasting significance for the history of Bremen through his many lectures and publications that deal with the local history of rural Bremen and “Umzu”.
