Johann Jakob Hoops

Johann Jakob Hoops (* 1840 in Sittensen ; † 1916 in Bremen ) was a teacher from Bremen .

biography

Hoops was the son of a farmer. He attended the village school in Groß Sittensen for four years and then from 1850 at the age of 10 a preparatory school , i.e. the lower level of elementary school teacher training. When he was only 14 years old, he was an assistant teacher in Sievern near Langen and in 1855 in Laven . In 1856 he was a preparer at the Stade teachers' seminar and six weeks later an assistant teacher in Borstel in the old country . In 1858 he received the post of teacher in Lehe and soon after in Bremen in the Walle district .

In 1860 he passed the senior teacher examination. He then ran the one-class school in the Lower Block Country . From 1864 he was senior teacher and school principal in Rablinghausen for four decades . He founded a special conference of the Bremen rural schools. As a politically conservative, he was a representative for religious education. A reference work as a book of realities on the meaning of the words remained unfinished.

He was the father of Heinrich Hoops , pastor in Mittelbüren, and of the Heidelberg university professor Johannes Hoops .

Honors

  • The Hoopsweg in Bremen- Woltmershausen , district Rablinghausen, was named after him.
