Heinrich II of Dischingen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich II von Dischingen , also Tischingen († July 9th (?) 1231 ) was Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt from 1228 to 1231.

Life

According to the oldest catalog of bishops, Heinrich II von Dischingen came from the Franconian family of von Dischingen . The eponymous Dischingen is now located in the district of Heidenheim in Baden-Württemberg .

Heinrich II. Von Dischingen was from 1212 as Eichstätter canon and from 1219 cathedral provost. In 1223 he was the leader of the opposition to the election of Bishop Friedrich I von Haunstadt . As bishop he was on the side of Ludwig des Kelheimer and was also among those present at his funeral. Otherwise, Henry II is hardly documented outside the diocese; in a comparison of sources, there are still uncertainties about his family of origin, his term of office and the date of his death.
