Life

The son of a Bydgoszcz riding and renting master studied law in Königsberg from 1848 after attending grammar school in Bromberg . In 1851 he was sworn in to the sovereign. In 1858 he was appointed district judge. In 1862, as a district judge in Bromberg, he came into conflict with his superior, President of the Court of Appeal v. Schroetter. In 1867 he was promoted to the district judge. From 1870 to 1872 he was a member of the House of Representatives for the National Liberals . In 1872 he came to the East Prussian Upper Tribunal in Königsberg as a tribunal counselor. In 1875 he moved to the Reich Chancellery as a Privy Councilor and Lecturer . In 1877 he was transferred to the Reich Justice Office. As a senior government councilor, he was responsible for fees and costs, cash and budget, penal and prison systems, customs and tax matters, the statistical office, the Reichsbank, and association law. In 1880 he was Federal Council commissioner for advice on the "law relating to the defense and suppression of cattle epidemics" in the Reichstag. In 1880 he came to the Imperial Court . He was active in the second criminal senate. He retired in 1896.
