Born at the time of the Kingdom of Hanover , Heinrich Loges worked as an independent bookseller in Hanover. After the proclamation of the German Empire Loges lived at Deisterstrasse 29 in Linden , where he illegally distributed the magazine Der Sozialdemokrat at the time of the persecution of the Socialists .

At the same time, Heinrich Loges was also editor and publisher of the magazine Haus und Welt published by the Linden Social Democrats .

When Loges died in 1885 - in the same year Linden, the former “largest village in Prussia ”, received city ​​rights and had long since risen to become an industrial city - around 4,500 Social Democrats attended the funeral at the Linden mountain cemetery , according to a report by the police chief at the time . At the same time, the police chief had also ordered that "no speeches may be given at the funeral".
