Heinrich Ludwig Fischer

Heinrich Ludwig Fischer (born August 10, 1761 in Köthen (Anhalt) , † January 19, 1831 in Breinum ) was a German Lutheran clergyman, educator and writer of the Enlightenment.

Life

Fischer studied theology in Halle and was first a teacher at the local orphanage , then at the teachers 'seminar in his hometown of Koethen and inspector of the teachers' seminar in Hanover. In 1797 he became rector in Bockenem , in 1798 pastor in Eimsen and Meimerhausen , and in 1807 pastor in Breinum. During his educational activity he published numerous textbooks and educational pamphlets, including his best-known work "Book of Superstitions" (1790–1794).
