Heinrich Mühlbauer OSB (* 1738 in Waldmünchen ; † March 5, 1810 in Altenthann ) was a German Benedictine and the last abbot of the Frauenzell monastery .

biography

Heinrich Mühlbauer only entered the Frauenzell monastery after his ordination . Before that he worked as a chaplain in Sallern (now part of Regensburg ). In Frauenzell he was initially employed as a professor of philosophy and theology in the monastery 's house study. He then worked as a vicar in the parishes of Martinsneukirchen (1773–1780) and Zell (1780–1788) , which were supervised by the Frauenzell monastery . On July 14, 1788 he was elected the new abbot by the convent of the monastery. In this office he showed great skill in maintaining the good economic situation of the small monastery and in maintaining the high spiritual and spiritual life in the convent.

When the monastery was abolished on March 21, 1803 as part of the secularization in Bavaria , Abbot Heinrich Mühlbauer withdrew to the neighboring parish of Altenthann , which had previously been looked after by the Frauenzell monastery. He died here in 1810 at the age of 72 and was buried in the parish church. The tombstone erected for him by the former monks of Frauenzell who were still alive was preserved in the parish church that was rebuilt and expanded at the beginning of the 20th century. A portrait of the abbot is kept in the Diocesan Museum in Regensburg.
