Heinrich Menkhaus

Heinrich Menkhaus (born December 27, 1955 in Hollage , Osnabrück district , Lower Saxony ) is a German legal scholar and professor of Japanese law . From 2001 to 2008 he worked at the Philipps University in Marburg , and since April 2008 he has been a professor at the Meiji University .

Life

From 1974 to 1979 Menkhaus studied at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1980 he passed the first state examination in law. In 1984 he did his doctorate on the subject of loan security in document collection , also in Münster. In 1986 Menkhaus passed the second state examination in law in Düsseldorf . From 1987 to 1989 he was a fellow at Nihon Hikakuho Kenkyujo (Japanese Institute for Comparative Law), Chuo University Tokyo . Until 1993 he was a research assistant at the German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo, part of the division of the Federal Ministry for Research and Education . Until 1995 he was Managing Director of the permanent office of the European Association for Japanese Studies (European Association for Japanese Studies [EAJS]) in Leiden, Netherlands. He was then head of the Law and Taxes department of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan in Tokyo until 2001. Since August 2001 he has been professor of Japanese law in Marburg. Since March 2003 he has also been chairman of the board of the German Society of JSPS scholarship holders in Bonn. Furthermore, he is chairman of the board of the German - Japanese Society for Labor Law eV (since 2002) and since June 2005 chairman of the Society for Japan Research eV

Heinrich Menkhaus has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
