Heinrich Otto von Gersdorff

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Otto von Gersdorff (* before 1564; † 1617 ) was the state syndic and district judge of Lower Lusatia and owner of the Dobrilugk pledge .

Life

He was the son of Heinrich von Gersdorff , electoral Saxon councilor and captain of the Erzgebirge district . Heinrich Otto was the owner of Buchwäldchen and the Vorwerk Kleinhof, where in 1564 he hosted Emperor Maximilian II on his return trip from the homage in Lübben . In 1589 he received the Dobrilugk lien after his brother Rudolf, who had damaged the castle considerably.

In 1598 Heinrich Otto was mentioned for the first time as the Lower Lusatian State Syndic , in whose function he took part in most of the assemblies of the Lower Lusatian estates in the following years and also went to the Bohemian General Assembly in Prague . In 1602 Emperor Rudolf II redeemed the Dobrilugk pledge. In 1612 Heinrich Otto von Gersdorff also became district judge of Niederlausitz, which led to protests by some representatives of the estates who criticized the accumulation of offices. He died in 1617.

painting

The visit of Emperor Maximilian II to Heinrich Otto von Gersdorff in Kleinhof was shown in an oil painting in 1663. This is located in the princely pews of the church in Kirchhain. Some details, for example the Vorwerk Kleinhof, are probably exaggerated.
