Heinrich Reinhart (museum director)

Heinrich Reinhart (born August 12, 1927 in Vienna ; † May 9, 2013 in Horn ) was an Austrian physician , writer and local researcher .

Life

Heinrich Reinhart received his doctorate in general medicine in July 1953 and was subsequently a surgeon in the Eggenburg hospital . For decades he determined the cultural scene in this small town in Lower Austria as City Councilor and Chairman of the Krahuletz Society. He is responsible for numerous special exhibitions in the Krahuletz Museum , each of which was designed in conjunction with the specialist institutes of the University of Vienna . The exhibitions about Bertha von Suttner , Johann Krahuletz, but also about the excavations in the Slavic ramparts of Thunau am Kamp are to be emphasized . Scientific publications accompanying these exhibitions were also published. Reinhart also published on the town history of Eggenburg.

Another area of ​​interest concerns religious folklore. In decades of intensive collecting work, he built up a very noteworthy collection of reverse glass pictures .

In addition to this local history activity, Reinhart has been responsible for the musical activities in Altenburg Abbey and in Breiteneich Castle near Horn since 1972, which became known far beyond the regional borders through his efforts.

Heinrich Reinhart also published two thematically closely rooted volumes of poetry with his closer home ( Waldviertel ). His poems are distinguished by their own musicality.

His activities brought him the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art in 1972 , the Silver Medal of Honor in 1981 for services to the federal state of Lower Austria and in 1991 the professional title of Professor .

He died on May 9, 2013 after a long illness.
