Heinrich Rudolf von Zedtwitz

Heinrich Rudolf von Zedtwitz (born February 9, 1819 in Bad Kösen , † October 5, 1901 in Hanover ) was a royal Prussian major general and most recently in command of the Wesel fortress .

origin

His parents were the chief raft commissioner Anton Ferdinand von Zedtwitz (* May 6, 1781; † July 16, 1861) and his wife Karoline Wilhelmine Theresia von Holleben . His mother was a sister of General Heinrich von Holleben .

Life

He first attended school in Schulpforta in 1833 , but switched to Major Benicken's military pre-school in Erfurt on August 1, 1834. After graduating on October 1, 1835, he joined the 27th Infantry Regiment as a musketeer on October 21, 1835 . There he was made an NCO on November 9, 1836 and on February 10, 1837, Portepeefähnrich. On June 8, 1838, he was appointed the surplus second lieutenant and on December 21, 1839, he was first placed on the budget and taken on on March 30, 1840 in the budget.

From October 13, 1844 to July 18, 1845 he was posted to the General War School . He then came from October 1, 1846 to September 30, 1847 in the 4th combined reserve battalion. From December 12, 1849 to February 17, 1851 he was a company commander there. During this time he was promoted to Premier Lieutenant on December 10, 1859. After his return he came from February 19, 1851 to February 1, 1854 as a company commander in the 1st Battalion of the 27th Landwehr Regiment. On his return he became company commander in the 27th Infantry Regiment on December 12, 1857. During the mobilization of 1859, from June 16, 1859 to July 25, 1859, he was again company commander of the mobile 1st battalion of the 27th Landwehr Regiment.

On February 10, 1863 he was transferred as a major to the 67th Infantry Regiment. There he became commander of the 2nd battalion on December 7, 1864. During the German War he fought near Münchengrätz , Preßburg and Königgrätz . For this he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle 3rd Class on September 20, 1866 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on December 31, 1866 with a patent on October 30, 1866.

On May 26, 1867, he joined the Fusilier Battalion of the 67th Infantry Regiment as a commander. On April 27, 1869, he was transferred to Wittenberg as a commander and was assigned to the 67th Infantry Regiment à la suite . He received the character of a colonel on June 18, 1869 , his patent for his rank on July 26, 1870 and then on May 2, 1874 the character of major general. On August 22, 1874, he came to Wesel Fortress as a commandant . On September 8, 1877 he received the Order of the Crown, 2nd Class with Swords .
