The focus of the work of Salzmann (and Ganzlin) was the planning and construction of large industrial and commercial buildings, some of which are now listed . His best-known project is the new construction of the industrial complex for the Jagenberg company in Düsseldorf-Bilk , the Jagenberg factory . The listed main building is now called Salzmannbau . Max Jagenberg wrote in 1928: “We had the well-known large factory construction company Salzmann & Ganzlin in Düsseldorf work out plans for a large industrial yard in which all of our production could be accommodated, but in such a way that any enlargements that might become necessary later could easily be carried out could."

Since industrial buildings were often short-lived even in Salzmann's time and were rarely published, so far only relatively few of his buildings and projects are known.
