Heinrich Tromm

Heinrich Tromm (born June 2, 1896 , † June 19, 1942 near Cholm ) was a German officer and footballer .

Life

Before the Second World War, Tromm played for Holstein Kiel for many years . He was one of the well-known players in Northern Germany and was an excellent defender and supporter of the team in Kiel .

He served as an officer in World War II a. a. as commander of the 411 infantry regiment. During the Battle of Cholm, the 411 infantry regiment broke through the encircling ring of the Red Army around the city on May 5, 1942, with the support of assault guns and ground attack aircraft under the command of Tromm, and thus horrified the German soldiers encircled there. As commander of the 411 infantry regiment, he received the Knight's Cross on November 15, 1941. In 1942 he was posthumously promoted to colonel .
