Heinrich Uetzfeld

Heinrich Uetzfeld (born July 22, 1906 in Berlin , † February 24, 1941 in Dachau concentration camp ) was a German politician ( SPD / SAP ), trade unionist and resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Uetzfeld, a mechanical engineer by profession, had been a member of the German Metalworkers Association (DMV) since 1922 and a member of the SPD since 1925. He was a functionary of the DMV in Berlin. In opposition to the SPD leadership, he joined the Socialist Workers' Party of Germany (SAP) founded in autumn 1931 and soon became one of its leading functionaries in Berlin.

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, Uetzfeld took on important orders for the leadership of his party. He traveled through many parts of Germany, visited his SAP members in other cities and discussed the continuation of political work with them. He was also in contact with Maria Grollmuß . Uetzfeld took part in the organization of solidarity actions for political prisoners and in the distribution of the SAP newspaper, Neue Front, which had been smuggled in from abroad .

Uetzfeld was arrested at the end of December 1933. On April 14, 1934, the Berlin Superior Court sentenced Uetzfeld to four years in prison . The Court of Appeal accused Uetzfeld and co-defendant Alexander Zimmermann of having "through their activities supported the aims of the party group led by Seydewitz directed towards violent overthrow ", an illegal party that called for the overthrow of the Nazi government and for "the erection of the socialist ones Republic under the leadership of the proletariat “fight. Uetzfeld was released in 1937, but arrested again in March 1940 and taken to the Dachau concentration camp. Here Uetzfeld succumbed to the torture he had suffered after almost a year.

Honor

On November 29, 2013 , a stumbling block was laid in front of his former home, Berlin-Britz , Parchimer Allee 7 .
