Heinrich Weinel

Heinrich Weinel (born April 28, 1874 in Vonhausen , † September 29, 1936 in Jena ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran New Testament scholar.

Life

In 1904 he received an associate's post at the University of Jena alongside the chair for the New Testament. In 1907 he became Adolf Hilgenfeld's successor . Together with Herman Nohl and Reinhard Buchwald , Heinrich Weinel founded the Jena Adult Education Center at the end of 1918, and one day after it opened there were already 2,000 enrolled students. Weinel exchanged the New Testament chair for the systematic ordinariate in 1925. In 1921 he became an honorary member of the Schwarzburg Association Alemannia Jena.

Heinrich Weinel was married to Ada Weinel, b. Thoenes (1875-1939).
